See it, share it
Congratulations to this month’s See it, share it winner Simon Royer of VGC Projects. While working on our G Network project he noticed that the drive belt on the whacker plate was faulty. He stopped work until he had a replacement whacker plate.
Be Safe rules
Our four Be Safe rules aim to ensure you go home safely every day.
- Be fit for work
- Get a brief before you start work
- Report anything unsafe
- Stop work if anything changes
If you feel you cannot work to these four be safe rules please stop and tell your line manager. Please remember to share observations and good practice – email besafe@vgcgroup.co.uk – or you can use our QR code, on posters at your site, to go to a reporting form.
Reporting incidents
Remember it is your responsibility to make sure that your VGC manager knows about any injury or incident, however small. This is as well as your site’s procedures. It’s important that we know about your health, safety and wellbeing when an incident has happened. Please use phone, text or email, whatever you prefer.
Site and personal security
Please make sure that your site is barriered off to stop members of the public coming on to site. This will help prevent unauthorised access to site and protect plant and tools from being removed. On some projects you aren’t allowed to wear branded PPE that shows the project name outside the site. This includes while you are commuting to and from work. Please follow these rules if they apply to you.
Thank you to all involved on Balfour Beatty Highways projects in contributing to our being Balfour Beatty’s No1 supplier for May.
Your positive intervention observations, your site inspections and engagement tours, as well as your positive behaviours and safety cultures have all helped us to be recognised as Balfour Beatty’s leading supplier.
Thank you, and please remember, let us know of any observations and good practice you see on besafe@vgcgroup.co.uk. And if you have any ideas or suggestions for innovations fill in the form on our webpage at vgcgroup.co.uk/ideas.
